Eversheds Partner appointed to British Olympic Association Board
Denise Jagger, Partner at international law firm Eversheds, has been appointed as a new independent Non-Executive Director on the Board of the British Olympic Association.
Denise has been appointed to a voluntary position at BOA for a two year term. She has held a range of independent directorships and prior to joining Eversheds as a partner, was a director of Asda and part of the executive team which oversaw the successful turnaround of the business prior to its acquisition by Wal Mart. Her background in corporate finance and expertise in corporate governance and board effectiveness, as well as the commercial experience in a dynamic consumer business, will help to add breadth and depth to the BOA Board.
Commenting on Denise’s appointment, Colin Moynihan, Chairman at the British Olympic Association, said:
“I am delighted that this incredibly talented and experienced individual has agreed to join the BOA Board as an independent Non-Executive Director. Denise will bring strong assets to complement the existing skill set of the Board. In particular her expertise in the legal and commercial fields will add great value to our strategic planning to ensure that long-term partnerships are developed successfully beyond the London 2012 Olympic Games. We look forward to welcoming Denise to the Board and to receiving her valuable and well respected input.”
Denise Jagger said:
“I’m looking forward to taking up the challenge of supporting Britain’s Olympic athletes and working with BOA Board members to capitalise on this once in a generation opportunity for British Olympic sport. My legal background and consumer expertise will be directed to ensuring that the unprecedented opportunity presented by 2012 is used effectively to inspire future generations and to strengthen and consolidate Olympic sport and its ideals.”
