The city’s BSF project aims to regenerate 18 secondary and special schools in a five-phase rebuilding plan which began on site in January 2011 and will run for three years.
In the 12 month period since January 2011, the City Council has signed 14 design and build contracts worth approximately £180 million. Contracts for the remaining projects are due to be signed in the first part of 2012.
The Eversheds team, led by construction senior associate Chris Pickens, provided the City Council with construction and procurement advice.
Chris said:
“The work, which will transform Stoke-on-Trent’s educational landscape, is well underway. The BSF programme has a number of important objectives, with improving the education experience for all young people in the city at the heart of the strategy. We have worked closely with the City Council to ensure that every element of this massive and complex project has run smoothly and as a result, the project has progressed at a remarkable pace.”
Tracy Penrose-Gould, BSF Project Director at Stoke-on-Trent City Council, said:
“The Eversheds team have delivered top class results on this very high profile project for the city. The support of the Eversheds team proved to be invaluable to in-house commercial and legal staff. They are seen as ‘part of the team’, working closely with individuals at all levels within the Council’s project team.”
