Eversheds Unlocked is a programme aimed at students who are first time family members to go to university, are studying at state schools and have a genuine enthusiasm for the legal profession. The programme has been developed to give young people the support to successfully apply to university and understand what they need to do to secure a training contract at a law firm like Eversheds.
The study, which will be officially launched on 14th June at Eversheds London office, was carried out by the City & Guilds Centre for Skills Development and examined the business impact of Work Inspiration; a campaign to inspire young people through well planned work experience while strengthening the business. While the positive benefits of well planned work experience for young people in education are proven and well documented, the study found that businesses identified increased employee engagement and retention, new business relationships, brand insights, contract wins and talent as benefits of work experience. Eversheds Unlocked was profiled as an example of best practice.
Alan Meredith, corporate responsibility partner at Eversheds, said:
“The primary aim of the Eversheds Unlocked programme was to help young people experience the inner workings of a law firm and set them on a path for a career in law. We’ve had an excellent response from teachers and students since the programme was launched and it is a great honour to be recognised by this study. We hope this study encourages other employers to support, encourage and inspire young people who are making decisions about their future.”
