Eversheds advises HSBC and management on sale of Britton Group to an affiliate of Sun European Partners
The Britton Group is a leading manufacturer of flexible plastics recognised as a significant innovator of packaging solutions. The sale to an affiliate of private investment advisory firm Sun European Partners, LLP, the European adviser to Sun Capital Partners, Inc., will allow the Britton Group to focus on market diversification and international expansion.
The Eversheds team, led by Partner Catherine Eley and supported by Associate Louise Fleming, advised Britton and its shareholders on all legal aspects of the sale.
Catherine Eley said:
“This deal will help to drive Britton’s international growth as well as strengthening its position as the leading flexible plastics manufacturer. It has been a privilege to advise HSBC and management in this successful transaction and we wish Britton all the best under the new ownership.”
Mike Clark, Chief executive of Britton, said:
“This transaction represents a significant step forward for the Britton Group as it will provide further investment and partnership with an organisation that has tremendous expertise in the sector which will facilitate further growth. We also hope to realise significant synergies with other affiliates of Sun European Partners in the sector to build a very strong pan-European flexibles business. HSBC has been very supportive of Britton as we have grown the business over the past few years. I am very grateful for this support which has provided us with a very strong platform for the future."
Mahmoud Atalla, Managing Director of Principal Investments at HSBC, commented:
"We are delighted to have supported Chief Executive Mike Clark and his team in the development of the Britton Group. The business is well positioned for further growth under the new ownership."
