Eversheds blows away RWE Npower Renewables Ltd with first IPC application
International law firm Eversheds has advised RWE Npower Renewables Limited in relation to the first ever application to the Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC) for a Development Consent Order for an onshore wind farm.
The application for the Brechfa Forest West Wind Farm in South Wales has been accepted by the IPC for examination. The proposals consist of 28 wind turbines up to 145 m in height with a maximum installed capacity of between 56 and 84 MW.
The IPC came into operation in March 2010 with a remit to consider applications for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects such as proposals for large onshore wind farms.
The Eversheds’ Planning and Parliamentary Team was led by Partner Stephen Collings and Associate Paul Maile advised.
Paul commented:
“The IPC has confirmed that it has accepted this application for the purposes of examination, the first of its kind since the Commission was formed in March 2010. This project is likely to set a precedent for the onshore wind farm industry and will be one of the most significant developments of its kind in the region.”
