Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery houses considerable collections of fine and decorative art, human history and natural sciences, including a wide range of exhibitions and events. The transfer to the Trust has made the museum service an independent organisation which still works closely with the Carlisle City Council.
Led by Eversheds’ senior associate Denis Cooper, the multi-disciplinary team provided a full service to the Council to prepare all documents including company documents, funding and partnering agreement and all commercial, employment and property issues.
Denis Cooper commented:
“This is an excellent example of the Big Society agenda at work, placing responsibility for services in the hands of an independent trust. We can expect to see more and more examples of this approach in the next few years and we are well placed to be in the vanguard of such initiatives.”
Mark Lambert, Assistant Director-Governance at Carlisle City Council added,
”The creation of a charitable trust for Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery was a very important and high-profile project for the Council. Eversheds’ assistance in driving the project forward was much appreciated, legal advice was clear and their response to demands within the project framework was timely and appropriate.”
