Eversheds provides employment and pensions support on DS Smith deals
International law firm Eversheds has provided DS Smith Plc with employment and pensions support on two transactions; the proposed acquisition of SCA Packaging from Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget for €1.7bn, and the sale of Spicers, its office products wholesaling division, to Unipapel for £200m.
DS Smith Plc is a leading international supplier of recycled packaging for consumer goods. The proposed acquisition of SCA Packaging would constitute a reverse takeover and would double the size of the company.
Eversheds advised on certain employment and pensions and all employee consultation elements of both transactions. On both occasions the Eversheds team was led by Martin Hopkins and Hannah Wilkins.
Martin comments:
“The proposed acquisition of SCA Packaging would be transformational for DS Smith and would enable them to fulfil their ambition to become Europe’s leading provider of recycled packaging for consumer goods. We’re delighted to have been able to help them achieve that ambition.”
The Eversheds team worked alongside Allen & Overy whose team, led by Don McGown, was instructed by DS Smith Plc to advise on all other elements of the transactions.
