Top forensic lawyer joins Eversheds
 
 


The Johannesburg office of international law firm Eversheds has appointed Murray Stewart to join the firm as a partner in the firm’s forensics department on 1 August 2011.


Derek Rabin, chairman of Eversheds South Africa commented:

“Murray is well-known and respected as a leading professional in the field of forensics in South Africa. He has 14 years’ experience in forensic investigations and brings valuable expertise to our forensics team. He specialises in all aspects of forensic auditing and has conducted numerous forensic accounting and investigative assignments in South Africa, Dubai, Egypt, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland and Hong Kong.”

About Murray Stewart

Murray Stewart obtained a BProc degree at Rhodes University and was admitted as an attorney in 1982. He also has a Postgraduate Diploma in Forensic Auditing and Criminal Justice (with distinction) from the University of Natal and is a Certified Fraud Examiner with the international Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

During his career he worked as a prosecutor, practised as an attorney and worked as a senior legal advisor specialising in engineering arbitrations. For eight years he was Global Head of Forensics for the Sasol Group where he established a highly successful forensic services department and was involved in numerous forensic audits involving millions of rands both in and out of South Africa.

Prior to joining the firm he was running his own forensic consulting practice. Murray has 14 years’ experience in forensic investigations and is regarded as a leading professional in both public and private sector forensics. He specialises in all aspects of forensic auditing and has conducted numerous forensic accounting and investigative assignments in South Africa. He gained international experience working on assignments in Dubai, Egypt, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland and Hong Kong.

Murray has been profiled in numerous publications for his achievements in combating “white collar” crime in the public sector and was nominated and interviewed in Parliament for the position of National Public Protector in 2002.
